We are the Charlotte Urbanists
Working to make Charlotte a better place through weekly meetings, Jane's Walk tours, DIY projects, and monthly #CriticalMassCLT!
OUr work
Benches for Bus Stops
Through this project we have raised over $8,000 in two phases to build and distribute 80+ benches to bus stops in need all over Charlotte.
This project not only provides riders with the comfort and dignity of a place to sit, but also serves to highlight the lack of basic amenities at many bus stops in Charlotte.
Jane's Walks
On the third Saturday of every month we host a "Jane's Walk" tour, inspired by the great urban activist Jane Jacobs.
Previous tours have covered locations such as Five Points, Camp North End, Optimist Park, Uptown, and even Kannapolis.
Policy Power Hour
We meet on the second Saturday of every month to discuss local policy issues and how we can get involved as citizens and advocates. We cover topics such as street safety, affordable housing, and NIMBYism.
Critical Mass
We ride on the last Friday of every month along with hundreds of other cities around the world. We roll out from First Ward Park at 7:00pm. With 200-300 riders, we are Charlotte's largest group ride!
